Q: How come GBA Cheat code handling is so bad?. A: The GBA cheat devices use Encryption to protect them. This causes problems for the tool since it has to decrypt the code, then hope it works. A future version of this tool will become smarter with GBA code handling. Q: I got an error message.
A: This is usually from input errors. Double check the input to make sure it's right. If it is, then the tool is not working correctly or the code is wrong.
Warning: may be illegal depending were you live and laws. We will use roms and emulator. Make sure that you have the game and system the emulator and roms are for or it is illegal.
On to the Instructable. Please make sure you are familiar with the format of action replay codes and hexdecimal. In part one of this you learned how to change the back 8 numbers in the code.
In this you will learn simple and complex ways to edit the code. The complex way uses emulators and roms and hacking systems so only pros should really attempted complex. Things needed: action replay(duh) game system that goes with the action replay(duh) game to hack for complex only emulator and rom for the game. So this is the easy way. I stress the word easy as it is only easy if you are familiarly with the format.
Anyway, yea you are going to just need the codes here. Lets say this is a code(its not really) 2a3b62c 00000099 OK let pretend that it is a health cheat for a shooting game. Nintendo like most people are orginased.
So normal things like number of bullets and health are close to each other(this completely depends and is not true for all games) so in theory. 2a3b62d 00000099 could be ammo. As you can see i changed the last number by adding one or subtracting one. You should probely subtract or add 2. OK this is the hard part. It is for finding the first part of the code.
Note this assumes that the emulator you are using has a address searcher on it, if it doesent I think you can use a external one(like artmoney or cheat engine) i recommend that you use 'vba'(virtual boy advance(a gba emulator(i can't tell you were to get it). It has a searcher built in to it. The pics are me hacking mario & luigi super star saga rom(again can't tell you were to get it) first find the amount of the thing your hacking. As in if you have 100 hp then you search for 100. I have 32 hp so i searched for 32 so do that.
The change the amount as in lose some health. Then search for the new amount. Keep doing that until you have like 6 addresses left.
Then change all the addresses and the amount should change and that gives you the front of the code. The back is just 00000000 with the amount at the end. I had 31 hp left so i searched for 31 and had 2 address left. Then i changed the address and that gave me 100 life. Ok, since I've been arrested for this type of stuff, listen up!
Emulators, they are NOT illegal to have, run, or share (Unless the emulator is created as payware, and you didn't pay). It is illegal to OWN A ROM. There isn't any imaginary law that says 'If you own the game, you may make as many copies as you like', there was a 'law' sony released a while back that attempted to limit the use of music CD's once you've purchased them. Thats about as close as it gets in Northamerica, or Canada. Microsoft also allows you to copy windows, since it isn't the disk that is special, but rather your CD key for that version of windows. I don't know of a single game maker that allows you to make copies of their games, whether you've purchased them or not.
It's part of their intellectual rights, and the rights assigned to the game. There has been a rumor for a while already that once you purchase a game, it's YOURS. Actually you just own the plastic CD it's printed on, you do not own the rights to that data, just because you paid $29.95 for it!! LOL This is a prime example of why you don't believe everything you hear, even if you've heard it 1,000 times from 1,000 different people. Now, we all know that most consoles and pc games have already a vast collection of cheat codes, and most are listed in websites. But what happens when there's that specific code you're after, and can't find it anywhere? I don't know. Such as unlimited ammo for a specific character, other than the main character. That forgotten item that no one ever pays attention to. Well, now you can.
What do you need:. An emulator for the game, such as. Your game CD or DVD. (Can also be a backup disc or ISO) I will not cover that. Not relevant. A cheats device, if you are using a console.and of course your PC.
I will also assume that you have basic knowledge in how to use Cheat Engine and Max Convert. If not, maybe you should get familiar with those first. Step 1: Download everything relevant, and set it up. According to whatever games or consoles you may have in your possession. It will vary.
Step 2: Someone wrote: I assume at this point that you have done everything you have been told, and have everything up and running. So, start up your emulator. It doesn't have to be perfect, as long as it plays your DVD game. Is it playable?
It's all we need for purposes of this tut. When the game is loaded, fire up cheat engine, and open it up the flashing icon. Then select your emulator. Go back into the game, and play for a little while.
Let's say at least 30 seconds worth. Do the first scan in CE with the value of whatever you want to obtain the code for. Limit your self to do one code at the time only. Let's say you want infinite ammo.
Type in the initial value, go back into the game and spend a little more ammo. Do this back and forth, and re-scan until you get the desired address. Which usually is just one or two. You can have both windows open and look to see when the value changes to make sure it is the address you're after.
Step 3: Once you've obtained the address, keep hold of it for now and minimize both programs. Fire up Max Convert.
Check the master code for that game from a codes website such as Codejunkies or Xploder, or you can also check the tutorial in how to get codes from the ps2 emulator using it's program log window. I will not be covering that up, but here's the way I do it. Once you've obtained the master code.
Oh, and make sure it is the right master code for you zone. Such as Pal or NTCS. So now, fire up Max convert and set the input as the device you're using. If you are using Xploder, then use GS2v3-4, or earlier, for Action Replay, use the designated one from the drop box on the top of the window.
Bellow set your Zone, such as Pal. Paste the master code into the left window of max convert, where you set the device from the drop box. Click convert. Now, on the first (Left) window, you're going to change it to Raw, and on the second (Right) window set up as your device. Go back to Cheat Engine and copy the address. Paste it on the left window.
Now you need a value. Values are usually the same as whatever you want. Say you want to reduce something to zero, such as a timer. Then the second half of the code takes all zeros.
Which is the case of an xploder code. It is split up into 8 digits code, making a total of 16 digits. So for zero value, place eight zeros after the address.
If you want it to be 999, then use 00000999. Don't exaggerate the values, and use only the game's limit.
If max ammo is 99, then use six zeros, followed by two number nines. This usually freezes the value, making it infinite. So watch what you freeze. Now finally click convert on max converter, and voila, you have your brand new cheat code. I hope you have understood everything in this tutorial, but please do read it properly before you start asking questions. If there is something you think I should cover, then let me know.
Convert Action Replay To Codebreaker
If codebreakers site codetwink doesnt display a game cheat like shin megami tensei devil summoner 2. How is someone able to create action replay codes from a converter? I just downloaded omniconvert so i can convert codebreaker codes to action replay max, but my problem is that i cant find codebreaker codes for the listed game above. And the ones that i do find on the net arent working.
Ive tried converting these codes, but when i do, it says codes are for wrong game when i try inputing them on the action replay max. Ive gotten codes from people on other forum sites like gamewinners.com and they said they converted these codes themselves and they do work very well, but they wont explain how they are doing it or where they are getting their source codes from. Can someone explain or help me with this problem. Im always trying to learn something new, and this has just got me stumped. Thanks, mike.
